2020 Census Begins In March

Beginning in early March, every household will get an invitation in the mail to respond.

Reasons participation is important…

More information is available from the Lacon Public Library or visit 2020CENSUS.GOV

Sample Questionnaire

2020 CENSUS

The 2020 Census will ask for the following information:

* Number of people at address    * Owner/Renter   * Phone Number   * Any additional people living or staying there

     * Name        * Sex       * Age and date of birth      * Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origin        * Race

                    * Whether a person lives or stays somewhere else               * Relationship

What else do I need to know?  Responding to the 2020 Census is:

   > Easy.  Every household in the United States will receive a  notice to complete the census in early 2020.  You can complete the form online, by phone or by mail.

   >  Safe.  Your personal information is confidential, is protected by law, and can never be used to  identify you.  It can never be shared with law enforcement agencies or your property manager.

   >  Important.  Businesses and leaders in your community will use the data collected in the census to  make decisions about where to build new buildings, revitalize old ones, open stores, create jobs, and more.

DUE TO THE CONCERNS OF COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS, WE WILL BE CLOSING CITY HALL TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

We will however, still be in the office and available via phone (246-6111) or e-mail (cityclerk@grics.net) during business hours; Monday through Friday, unless we are not feeling well.

Water & Sewer payments may be deposited in our drop box on the west side of the City Hall, next to the Police Department door.

Police and Public Works operations will continue although non-urgent direct contact with the public will be minimized.

Per the Governor’s Executive Directive, all eating and drinking establishments have been closed to the public. However, drive-throughs and/or curb side service is allowed.

If a drinking establishment does not abide, they may have their liquor license suspended or revoked.

We appreciate you cooperation during this time.
